Playing Dress Up

Welcome Dear Readers to Bows & Buttons! What, you ask, is said blog? Well, I am so glad you asked.  This is a blog devoted to Mommies (and aspiring mommies) everywhere who are tired of subscribing to the age-old mantra of disheveled-mom wearing "mom jeans" and carrying a whining grape-juice covered mismatched child. Instead it is aimed at the mom who wants something more, that "more" being oh- so ever more stylish!  The mom who can balance Elmo with Erdem, Dora and Dior, and Blues Clues alongside Burberry. Upon spending countless hours aimlessly browsing top fashion blogs, I was discouraged at the amount of blogs dedicated to the 20-something yfresh-faced girl/muse right out of college, without a care, or a bill for that matter, in the world. Where are you, young stylish moms with equally fabulouly-dressed tots in tote? I made it my most (pleasurable) mission to find out. Style for mom; style for baby (or for you even more daring moms..."babies")...my god, what could be more delectable?

Granted, on most days dressing one's child, or one's self for that matter, is not the most pressing of tasks, but having a chubby-faced, wide-eyed cherub, it certainly is one of the most pleasurable. For all the invetible skepical comments, I have an equally irritating retort:

1). It will be covered in projectile vomit, flo-green poop or...(insert viscous substance here) in 0.002 seconds -- So will those (uggh) yoga pants, graphic tee, crocs. But for those 0.002 seconds baby will look fabulous in said Burberry jumber or Mudpie bloomers (someone take a picture...quick...)
2). There are more important things, I want my child to be recognized for his/her mind--
REALLY?...so are we endorsing the dichotomy of attractive/dumb and unattractive/smart? Beauty definetly is founded on intelligence and personality but thtat's no reason your outsides can't match your insides.
3). It costs too much -- with all the high street brands taking inspiration from the runways, this simply is not true....think Baby Gap, Gymboree, plus a slew of custom wear for baby, and H&M, Zara, XX1 and online membership sample sales ( I.e. HauteLook and Beyond The Rack) for mommy.
4). What's the point? -- Life is too short not to find a reason, ANY reason, for Mommy & Baby (and Daddy too, but that's an entirely different blog) to don our finest and make those special moments all the more memorable. At least I think so. If you do too, than keep reading...

xoxo,
Ann-Marie
