#1: Pastel Nails
Spring and pastels go together like Sponge Bob and Pants. Every Spring is sure to bring out the pale pinks, peaches, mints, baby blues of the season. Maybe it's a reference to the blooms up ahead. Maybe it's a refernce to the Easter season. Maybe its a quiet way to introduce Summer's more caliente shades. Whaterver the reason, pastels are in again. Look for more milky subdued shades. Chanel, the forerunner in nailpolish trends, has released a pale pink, May, which is sure to be a Spring stunner. Also, pale greens have replaced the moss greens of years gone by. On your nails, pale is perfect!

#2: Flo Nails
Surely as a precursor to summer, Spring nails are seeing pleny of neon colours. Fluorescent yellow manis are huge. But if Big Bird-hued talons are a little too bright for your liking, try bright corals or hot pinks. Another way to try neon? On your pedis. Not as daring, you can dabble in flo without feeling like you have rewinded to the 80's. One thing is for sure, these polishes are for the Mama seeking attention.

#3: Nude Nails
In direct contrast to the bright shocks of colour showing up on nails, are the more natural, elegant nudes. This Spring Nudes are meant to match your skin colour, seamlessly elongating your fingers. These polishes are fantastic because they go with anything and everything and let your baubles take center stage while still contributing to the put-together effect.

#4: Holographic Nails
Hollywoods newest craze on the heels of glitter nails is holographic nails. Nails that have a 3-D effect are celebs craziest new mani-obsession. A couple of months back, Vogue reported on the newest invention by UK Nail-connoisseur Nails INC. and their magnetic polishes producing a "marbelized, zebra" effect which looks "distorted, three dimensional" with the effect of "brushed alluminum". This polish and its magnetic strip pulled iron powder towards itself creating a wave. Such holographs has Hollywood in a hizzy about 3-D nails. Be forewarned, this trend is not for the faint of heart.

#5: DIY Nails
The most exciting and creative of the bunch is the slew of DIY nails popping up all over Hollywood and laquer-loving junkies alike. A steady hand is needed to create everything from simple geometric designs to whimsical wallpaperish patterns to cutesy scenes which begin on one nail and continue off and onto another. With at home nail strips, nail pens and self-stamping nail systems like Konrad at every gal's disposal, mamas everywhere can indulge in a little pamoering (when babies are sleeping of course!) Channel your inner Picasso on this one ladies...the possibilities are endless!
xoxo,
Ann-Marie
